+ Cuyahoga Valley Width
The Cuyahoga Valley is approximately 80 feet deep as it extends through the
Lake Plain. The Valley's width varies. The Valley is approximately ½ mile wide from
Lake Erie to the I-490 Bridge but then widens to 1 to 1 ½
miles south to Harvard Road. This wide portion of the Valley is also the location of the large
steel works that historically provided a foundation for much of Cleveland's economy. Upriver the
Valley narrows to 1/3 to ½ miles until it reaches the area where
West Creek and Mill Creek enter the
Valley, at which point the Valley widens again.
