The Cuyahoga Valley is a complex and diverse landscape. It encompasses very distinct places: a national park, one of the nation's "edge cities", a major concentration of industrial production, a popular entertainment district, an international port, vibrant neighborhoods, and other uses.

Separating these distinctive natural and man-made features are transition points, or nodes, which warrant special attention. They help define the Valley's structure and are potential gateways to experience the Valley and promote a sense of place.

+ Harvard
At the confluence of Big Creek and the Cuyahoga River, the Harvard node links the vast steelmaking and industrial areas to the north with the tranquility of the region's unique and wild natural places to the south - the Metroparks' Canalway Reservation and other properties in the secluded and narrow Valley.
It is at this location where the first low level crossing of the Cuyahoga River south of downtown is possible, and where the River flows in its natural state before entering the depths of the navigation channel.
Crossed by Harvard Road and directly connected to the regional interstate highway system, this node can become the southern gateway to Cleveland's economic revitalization and form common ground with its municipal neighbors to the south. more...
