Examples of Community Capacity at Work
Collaboration drives the regeneration and transformation of the Cuyahoga Valley. The projects described here are just a few examples of best practices that illustrate how a variety of interested citizens and partner organizations support many different projects in our communities. The Towpath Trail and Greenway, as well as the different community groups and tributary watershed groups exemplify community capacity at work in the Cuyahoga Valley. Each of these projects have the following common characteristics:
- These are place-based models of collaboration that typically cross political and social boundaries.
- They are led by open and collaborative groups which gain much of their direction from volunteers.
- They are cross-sector, bringing together the best aspects of business, volunteerism, and public assets.
- They all model the triple-bottom-line of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social health.
